Since 1980, Sandra and Stefano Giusti have been producing and selling ceramic objects and furnishing accessories in their laboratory in Paterno, turned and handcrafted using non-toxic glazes of their own composition. Their work has been exhibited in prestigious international exhibitions, and in 2011 they won a European tender on artistic craftsmanship entitled “Spread your hands”. Their production is characterized by the essentiality of the shapes and the non-serial processing that gives the objects the uniqueness of the highest artisan tradition. They are both master craftsmen, and in 2014 their laboratory was accredited by the Tuscany Region as a Bottega-Scuola, a qualification that allows, as in the Florentine Renaissance workshops, to learn the trade directly in the workshop by obtaining training credits. Sandra and Stefano can host trainees or apprentices wishing to do a master in specific techniques. They are currently responsible for the ceramics of the Didactic section of the Museo dell’Opera del Duomo, Florence.
